Description
A second collection of inspirational images of model railways, together with accompanying words from their creators. The text, coupled with the scenes and railways depicted in the photographs, allow windows into the thought processes and creativity of each of the builders, revealing how different we all are in our approaches. What motivates us to create a model railway and what do our creations mean to us?
Whilst including more of James' own work, including the tiny 'Traeth Hafren' and Ivo Peters-esque 'East Works', this collection also features both European and North American models, together with Rob Mabbett's brilliantly realised 1/32 'Elmbridge' - an unusual scale for believable modelling on any continent.
Amongst the other subjects, David Murray's writing to accompany 'Renfrew Wharf' is a striking piece of prose poetry, while Tom Foster's 'Skarloey Railway' is a visually stunning "micro on steroids". David Segar's 'Waverley West' looks even better here than it does on RMweb, as does Dave Hall's work, and we also re-visit Neil Rushby's 'Shell island'
