Wild Swan Books
Raymond Williams' LMS Steam in the Thirties
Peter J. Boswell & R.J.EsseryHardback - 90 pages - £19.95
Frank Raymond Williams was an active railway photographer from 1935 until the outbreak of the Second World War. He largely concentrated on moving trains and loco portraits and this album provides an evocative high-quality record of what he saw, primarily on the Western and Midland Divisions of the LMS. The photographs were taken using a Rolleiflex medium format camera which produced good quality negatives.
Many of the images are accompanied by detailed captions from the pen of R.J.Essery, author of numerous books and articles on the history and operation of the Company and its locomotives.
