LNWR wagons have so far received very little attention. This is the first book in a three-part series which attempts to rectify this lack of published material by studying the Company's wagons from 1880 until the 1923 grouping.
Almost all the LNWR's wagons were built at the company's works Earlestown, notes on which set the scene in the early part of this account. An overview of mechanical details and liveries also precedes the main part of the book which deals with individual wagon types. These are recorded with notes, diagrams, photographs and, in many cases, general arrangement drawings.
