The Wantage Tramway closed in 1946 and yet it still generates considerable interest, even though there can be very few people alive now who have any memories of it in operation. The author's original book was published by Wild Swan in 1981 and was intended as a largely pictorial complement to the standard history published over twenty years previously by Selwyn Pearce-Higgins.
This expanded second edition is an affectionate portrait by the author, incorporating some social history rather than a blow-by-blow account of the formal history and technical details of the line. It includes new material on day-to-day operation along with additional photographs and drawings to illustrate the appearance of the line.
